March 2015

Well March is nearly over and finally the Daffs are out! Had my first crop from the polytunnel of purple sprouting broccoli after waiting all Winter for it to mature, tasted great!

Had a great training day with Katherine Mcaleese from Mind to Win this month. Lots of positivity and motivational work, really makes you realise how much we put ourselves down and how we don’t realise how good we actually are. We need to start giving ourselves some credit. Everything our wonderful dogs can do is because we have trained them to do it!

Of course March is the month for Crufts and it was great to watch all our friends competing and having a ball. Won’t be long before the night start to get light enough for evening training classes and then the Cleverpawz team practices will start again for this seasons qualifiers.

Our numbers are steadily growing so we hope to have two large teams, the Cleverpawz Tallies and the Cleverpawz Even Tallers, one medium team the Cleverpawz Middlers and two small teams the Cleverpawz Shorties and the Cleverpawz Even Shorters competing this year.

Had a great time at Wyre Champ Show this month. Saw some fantastic handling, made lots of new friends and came away with three rosettes. Barack got 3rd in grade 4-6 combined Agility, Wizz got 6th in grade 3 Jumping (only his 2nd clear at his 2nd show out of 100 dogs) and Nell got 19th in the Camddwr Cup Qualifier out of 210 dogs.

Found out that Nell made it through to the Breerock Large Grade 5 final but I had double booked a training day, difficult decision but sent my appologies and opted for training. The training day was with Katie Long and Jess Clarehugh in York. Had a great time, practiced serpentines and rear crosses as well as sorting my timing out on contact reinforcement. Hopefully my dogs will get clearer messages now.

Looking forward the April shows, Hare and Hounds Easter at lovely Duncombe Park, Fife Champs, Scottish Border Collie Champs and Crooked Oak UKA Show. See you all there. 😀
