April 2015

Barack moves up to grade 7 bringing our grand total up to 4 grade 7 dogs in our pack :)

We have attended some lovely sunny April shows and some very cold ones this month. Hare and Hounds Easter show at beautiful Duncombe Park was red hot and so were the dogs. Bailey ended up with 5 clears, Wizz one 12th, Nell one clear, Chester one clear. Jet four clears and two 8ths, Bon Bon six clears, Barack one clear, one 3rd, two 2nds and two 1sts which took him into grade 7!  A very successful show.

Then disaster struck. Whilst setting up for the KOF show in Scotland I slipped off the caravan step and sprained my ankle. Off to Perth A&E for an x-ray which thankfully wasn’t broken but very badly sprained so no runs for my lot that weekend. I later discovered that I had quite an unusual injury, a tear to the Dorsal Medial Ligament, which assists in core stability and balance, so I have started a course of physiotherapy and ultrasound treatments. Hopefully I’ll be back to running normally before long.

The following weekend was Scottish Border Collie Champs. I didn’t do much running more like hopping around but still managed to get some great results. Jet, Bon Bon and Bailey all got clear in Champ jumping and Bailey got clear in Champ Agility which took him into the Final. We ended up finishing 13th in the Champ Final which I was very pleased with considering the ankle injury ;)

We had a fantastic weekend at the end of April at the Crooked Oak UKA Show. Is was great to be able to train in the ring in the show atmosphere and we managed an amazing 20 first places, 10 second places and 3 third places. Phew what a weekend!

I finally got round to applying for a volunteer position for Dog AID (Assistance in Disability) after recording all the necessary video footage of my training methods and filling in the copious forms and question sheets. Just have to wait for their confirmation, and then I can start training assistance dogs.

Looking forward to the next bout of May shows, Woodside Championships, Fair City, Scottish Kennel Club Championships, Nottingham Championships, and Avon.  See you all there J
