May at Scone Palace

May madness

Well May has been a very busy month for our pack. It started off with a bit of a scare as we discovered a lump on Bon Bon’s abdomen. Off to the vets we went for a fine needle aspiration, very nerve wracking, but thankfully the test came back as only a fatty lump and no surgery needed.

The May shows started off pretty wet.  Woodside Championships saw us gaining a plethora of Clear Rounds and Nell coming 7th in grade 5 jumping. It was Barack’s very first show running at grade 7 and he went on to win the class, what a surprise that was as I hadn’t realised, and thought I was running him in his last grade 6 show, so ran the class trying out lots of blind crosses, don’t think I looked at him once. It worked amazingly. Note to self – take more risks in future!  Oh, and we got two dogs through to the Championship final, Bailey coming 4th and Jet 6th overall, very successful weekend.

The following weekend saw us going off to the lovely Scone Palace for Fair City show, where we entered the CSJ Highland Stakes Qualifier and came 5th with Bailey, clever little man. Got so many comments about my new boy Wizz who at 20 months is managing a few courses now without getting E’d. He is going to be amazing!

SKC show was very wet but some nice courses for the Championship Qualifiers. It was Barack’s first champ run and he managed a clear round in the Jumping but an E in the Agility, must practice 9 weaves. Got Bailey and Jet through to the Champ Final coming 5th and 6th overall, very pleased with my two little boys. Nell and Wizz did nice runs in the Olympia Novice Qualifier both just missing the weave entry. Think I’ll go back to channels to proof them at speed.

Nottingham Championships saw a blistering hot day on the Saturday for the Small Championships with some blistering runs to match. Managed to get 2 dogs in to the final finishing 7th with Bailey and 9th with Bon Bon not bad out of 101 dogs!

The last show of May was Avon, very cold but great fun. Bailey managed to come 9th in the KC Olympia qualifier and I was asked to fill in his details just in case he gets called up, very exciting. My baby Wizz excelled himself too getting 8th in Large Agility grade 3 and 24th in Large Agility combined 1-4 beating lots of grade 4 dogsJ

The Cleverpawz Agility Club new classes are now full and we are starting another waiting list. Still looking for land but have had an offer on the house so things are definitely moving in the right direction.

Looking forward to the next bout of June shows North Derby, Otley and Newton Heath….. See you all there J

Two in top ten!
